MAKE TIME -COME OUT OF YOUR BUSY LIFE AND LIVE MORE INTENTIONALLY! (book summary)

MAKE TIME

We click on one notification, boom we enter an infinite pool of feeds, And you spend hours of your time without even intending to. We all wish to spend our time consciously. but at the end of the day, we fail to do that one important task. This book talks about how you can make time for the important things in your life and stop making fool of yourself.

BUSY BANDWAGON

We feel being busy all the time is a kind of badge of honor, for that moment it does feel like we are moving forward with our life. But deep down we are not spending time meaningfully. We fall into default systems, like our cell phones come with default settings we as humans have some default systems in our life which need some modifications.

INFINITY POOL

We belong to the generation with bombarding distractions, you watch one reel on Instagram, and the app algorithm brings another reel without any efforts in front of you, and one more this loop continuous for hours and we fall for it indefinitely. and you watch one video on youtube and they suggest 100 same genre videos. These apps are designed in such a way to make you feel good and get addicted to them. There won’t be any end to these sources. The one question we must ask ourselves are we intend to watch all these. We just watch them in the default system and end up doing nothing productive.

Anyone can escape the busy bandwagon and infinity pool by using the following 4 tools.

1.      1..HIGHLIGHT

To make our days more meaningful, we have to choose one highlight for the day, You will finish this one highlight no matter what. Choosing a highlight is important; it doesn’t have to be productive. You can make highlights like spending time with your loved ones, making a reel for your Instagram account, or maybe a meditation session. It can be anything but make sure it will give satisfaction at the end of the day. By doing one highlight at a time you spend your time more intentionally.

Important things to remember while performing your daily highlight, it's not the only thing you do in the whole day, it should be at least 90mins it helps you to get into a flow state, and keep all the distractions away from you. Go all in.

2. LASER

When you doing any particular task make sure you are in laser mode. Turn off the default systems you don’t have to reply to all the texts you get immediately, it’s okay to go offline sometimes, it’s okay to ditch social media for sometimes. We all have that FOMO (fear of missing out) face it and come out of it. Keep your earphones on, shut the door and tell everyone that it's your time. Avoid distractions and focus on one task at hand.

3. ENERGISE

This is the most important tool of all, We all evolved from millions of years to become this version of sapiens but in the last couple of centuries technology changed so rapidly that we got less time to get adapted to new defaults. To energize ourselves we have to become cavemen again. The first key ingredient to being energised throughout the day is to get some good quality sleep, turn off your device in bed, the bed is for sleeping not for the endless content we consume.

Eat like a caveman used to, I’m not asking you people to eat raw meat but try to eat more fruits and vegetables rather eating all the junk foods!!

Exercise is the main thing to keep us healthy and active, it doesn’t have to be an intense 1-hour workout. Learn from our caveman We were hunters and gathers so take a walk, ditch the transport take stairs these small changes bring difference and many studies shows that light exercise is beneficial for your overall performance. So get up and give it a go.

4. REFLECT

After trying all the tools it’s important to observe what had worked for you and what didn’t. We are all different, if it works stick to it otherwise try changing things for a better result this way you create your default system and live your life more intentionally.

The one more tip I want to add is BOREDOM IS GOOD yes you heard me right, whenever we are standing in a line or traveling in the metro we can’t offer to get bored we open our small distraction full device and scroll through it, instead get bored studies shows that boredom can give you more innovative ideas and when you get bored you give time to yourself and reflect on life.

Saturn And My Childhood

I wondered how a celestial object might have a ring. It all sounded very mythical and quite unbelievable, to be frank. As I grew up, the curiosity built up, and I did accept the truth — yes, Saturn does have rings. Did I see them with my own eyes? No, but many pictures on the internet show the same. All the satellites sent, or the stupendously big telescopes, all say the same thing — the object that is 21 times the diameter of Earth looks so tiny, having a beautiful ring around it. The ring looks so enormous, yet its height is just 10 meters — thinner than a sheet of paper if you scale it down. Anyway, all the science may take a back seat; as a kid, it was always my dream to watch those rings in real time. As I was walking along the roadside this evening, it struck me — it’s October, and Saturn might be high above in the sky, the perfect time to spot it. So I just rushed to my room, took out my telescope, and pointed it toward it — boom! My dream came true. I witnessed the rings!!! ...

TIME

What is time? you may think it is a stupid question to ask, but anyway, ask yourself what is time? Is it what your watch notifies or a calendar or seasons? or time is just a concept in our brain that never really exists? Before scientifically answering this question, let me simplify. Time is a single-direction thing, you can never go in the past. You can’t unscramble the egg, or unread my article. It is one direction for sure but we are not in command of it, It goes at one speed and can’t go backward or forward, yea yea I’m keeping complicated science away. just to avoid complications of time travel, let us be in real and try to get this term time in simple things. As I searched for the definition of time, one thing was sure, it is the most unknown of unknown things in this world. But plays a very vital role, in how we feel that time is very important, sometimes we want to escape, and sometimes we want to re-live it. Among all the things of entropy and time traveling we can make ...

Survivors Bias, Dropping out of college isn't that great idea!

Let me tell you the story of world war 2, British were losing their bomber aircraft at an increasing rate against the German army, but they desperately wanted to find a solution to this problem, So they analyzed all the air crafts that came back. They noted and found out the areas of the aircraft where most of the bullets were hit or damage happened, and they decided to armor those parts of the aircraft, sounds intuitive, isn’t it? But to their surprise, the applied mathematics department had a different plan (I was shocked by the fact that they had applied mathematics in the military) So Abraham Wald, based on his statistical research suggested the British military, Armor those parts of the aircraft where no damage is seen or observed, but this brought huge success in coming war days. The reason behind this counterintuitive decision was that they were only looking at the aircraft which returned. means that all the aircraft hit by German in different areas failed to return, so all surv...
