The subtle art of not giving fuck -summary

Don’t read this until you are ready to face the reality, sounds a bit harsh but the truth is harsh sometimes and helps us to grow into better people than we are now!! don’t get a bad idea by the title. the book is totally opposite to what the title says, you have to give fuck to certain things. Unlike many other self-help books that help you find certain tools to achieve your goals, this book talks about what goals one should have in life. This is one of the greatest self-help books I have read, I noted down the things that sounded more important to me in this book.

CHAPTER 1   DON'T TRY

The idea of success is very different for the author of this book, success doesn’t mean a lot of money and fame, it’s about values and the way one leading their life, the values you really care about. So one should stop trying to be successful in a materialistic way as the author says “negativity is the path of positivity” only suffering will let you know the truth and you learn what it takes to have something in life. the idea that the more you pursue feeling better all the time, the less satisfies you become, as pursuing something only reinforces the fact that you lack it in the first place.

Not giving a fuck does not mean being indifferent it means being comfortable with being different.

CHAPTER 2   HAPPINESS IS A PROBLEM

We are all told to try to be happy all the time, but that’s not how our evolution occurred if you become more comfortable you don’t do more efforts, thus resulting in no growth in life. it’s okay to feel negative sometimes, and feeling anxious is also okay this will actually push you to do things that you want to do, we have to learn to embrace the struggle. It is always easy to want something in life, like wanting to be rich, happy struggles life, Rather than wanting something we should ask ourselves what pain we are ready to go throw to have something, the struggle is inevitable so we should choose what is worth for our struggle.

CHAPTER 3  YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL

We all don’t want to go through a sad phase, rather we want to get to that happiness road skipping the worse parts, we feel we are special that way and we trick our self that we deserve good things without giving the work what it takes, we should stop feeling special and should feel the reality.

CHAPTER 4  THE VALUE OF SUFFERING

If we are working hard and sacrificing good things to achieve the bad values or worthless goals then it is all fucked up, so we need to set values for ourselves to be on track and make our sufferings payback. in this chapter author talks about how to set values, I would like to quote about the most fundamental value that we should all have “honesty”

CHAPTER 5 YOU ARE ALWAYS CHOOSING

Whether you like it or not, you have to choose the struggle you are willing to take responsibility for.

In marvel movie as spider man's uncle says "with great power comes great responsibility", the author Manson says "with great responsibility comes great power"

It’s not our mistake that some bad things happened to us but it’s fully our responsibility to deal with it. This mindset changed my life, and I’m happy that I started taking responsibility for things instead of complaining and bragging about them.

CHAPTER 6 YOU’RE WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING (BUT SO AM I)

If you think of your version of past years you might feel ridicule about yourself because you were wrong, now you grew up to be more mature but now also you are not right but less wrong than before and this process is endless. By the passing of each year, you continue to become less wrong about things and more mature. So it’s okay that we all wrong we will learn things along the journey of life.

CHAPTER 7  FAILURE IS THE WAY FORWARD

If you don’t do anything in the fear of failure you end up doing nothing, but If you do something even you are wrong you will learn something, and this way you continue to do things. it's okay to make mistakes. As Surf excel says ‘daag tou achay hotay hain’ we should learn to embrace our mistakes more.

CHAPTER 8  IMPORTANCE OF SAYING NO

To say yes to something we have to say no to some other things, the author mainly talks about relationships in this chapter, when you stop telling your partner that you are not okay with some things you might not end up in fights but eventually that relationship becomes toxic. we should learn to express ourselves better, this way we actually improve our relationships better.

CHAPTER 9    …..AND THEN YOU DIE

This chapter is harsh but the truth is we all gone die one day, we always have to keep this in our mind, we should ask ourselves what will we do if it is your last year, last month, last day. Do more in life which brings value and chastisement.

To summarize this book in a line “work on your problem, anyone can complain only heroes make a move” we all are heroes don't forget that!!

Saturn And My Childhood

I wondered how a celestial object might have a ring. It all sounded very mythical and quite unbelievable, to be frank. As I grew up, the curiosity built up, and I did accept the truth — yes, Saturn does have rings. Did I see them with my own eyes? No, but many pictures on the internet show the same. All the satellites sent, or the stupendously big telescopes, all say the same thing — the object that is 21 times the diameter of Earth looks so tiny, having a beautiful ring around it. The ring looks so enormous, yet its height is just 10 meters — thinner than a sheet of paper if you scale it down. Anyway, all the science may take a back seat; as a kid, it was always my dream to watch those rings in real time. As I was walking along the roadside this evening, it struck me — it’s October, and Saturn might be high above in the sky, the perfect time to spot it. So I just rushed to my room, took out my telescope, and pointed it toward it — boom! My dream came true. I witnessed the rings!!! ...

TIME

What is time? you may think it is a stupid question to ask, but anyway, ask yourself what is time? Is it what your watch notifies or a calendar or seasons? or time is just a concept in our brain that never really exists? Before scientifically answering this question, let me simplify. Time is a single-direction thing, you can never go in the past. You can’t unscramble the egg, or unread my article. It is one direction for sure but we are not in command of it, It goes at one speed and can’t go backward or forward, yea yea I’m keeping complicated science away. just to avoid complications of time travel, let us be in real and try to get this term time in simple things. As I searched for the definition of time, one thing was sure, it is the most unknown of unknown things in this world. But plays a very vital role, in how we feel that time is very important, sometimes we want to escape, and sometimes we want to re-live it. Among all the things of entropy and time traveling we can make ...

A Giant mysterious mirror!!

You all might have seen a Crescent moon, The illuminated part of the moon looks bright but we can also see the darker part of the moon, If you observe carefully, you can see the other part of the moon, but not as bright as the illuminated part (Cresent part of moon), even though sun has no part in illuminating it. Let me tell you, how we all can see that darker part of the moon on crescent moon day, it is caused by the sun's bright light reflecting off the earth's surface into the face of the moon. We even have a word for it, earthshine! So every time you see a crescent moon and a hint of a darker side of the moon, you are literally looking at the reflection of our earth, isn't it exciting to know? Next time, when you look at the sky remember you are acting as a gaint mirror !!
