We all hated one chapter in maths, Probability! this always
forced our brain to work a bit hard and we learned that our emotions won’t
affect the outcome of the result, a coin always has two outcomes no matter
what.
I have one simple question for you all if you had a chance
to win 100 rupees if a flip of a coin turns out to be head and you lose 100
rupees if the coin flips to tail. Would you take the risk of playing this game
with me? Most probably no, why would you risk your 100 rupees? even if I don’t
take this risk.
But what if I offer 200 rupees every time you win (that is
getting a head-on coin flip), and you lose 100 rupees if it turns out to be a
tail? This is a little tricky, some of you might accept this bet or decline.
Statistically after ‘n’ number of games you will be in
profit no matter what. It might sound controversial as your brain might think
what if you lose all of them, and end up in a loss but that doesn’t happen,
more risk you take the more profit you get, it is only 50 percent for each player
to win or lose you will end up with more money, in 10 trails if you win 5 you
get 1000 rupees and 5 lost so you lose 500 rupees, but at the end, you are 500
rupees higher than me.
I’m not telling you to bet like this or buy a lottery, but
do you take this risk in life? to make a decision. With every decision you make, you list the
pros and cons in your brain and most often we tend to weigh our losses more
than gains. This is how the human mind thinks, we think more about the
humiliation we face than the success of it. We don’t go for the opportunities
because of the losses they bring with them, we are afraid to relocate with a job
or education. we don’t ask for a better price, thinking we might be wrong about
the price in the first place. That lowers our confidence. Life is a series of
risks, if you don’t accept the first one how could you accept the next? take
that risk and don’t be fooled by your brain. you won’t be successful in all
bets, but one bet is enough to set that career, set that day, or mare
experience is enough. remember life is long sequence of bets so statistically success is gauranteed. I’m taking the risk to post this, even though my brain
forcing me to think, whether anyone reads this or not, whether anyone
will get benefitted from this article or not! Prove my stupid brain wrong.

Risk is worth taking..great point view on probability!! Keep writing, keep taking risk!!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not one to comment on posts, but after reading this, I'm taking a risk and breaking that pattern.
